BIOGRAPHY
Pianist, Gloria Penny, studied at the American Conservatory of Music
in Chicago where she studied piano under the hand of three great
masters: Rudolf Reuter, Grace Welsh and Adele Marcus.
- Rudolf Reuter was in the class of Henrich Barth with Arthur Rubenstein and Wilhelm Kempff
- Grace Welsh was in the class of Josef and Rosina Lhevinne;
- Adele Marcus studied with Josef Lhevinne and Artur Schnable.
Studies continued at Columbia University-Teachers College in New York and at the University of DeSoto, Missouri, where an Hororary Doctorate was conferred upon her.
International Competition Prizes:
- Delta Omicron International Piano Competition (Chicago)
- University of Maryland International - Piano Competition and Festival
- Vianna de Motta International Piano Competition (Lisbon)
Performances include numerous recitals throughout the United States (notably at Carnegie Hall in New York) as well as in Canada, Europe and in Israël. Her performances have been broadcast on television, radio and in a film under the direction of author Studs Terkel.
